Chief Duncan Michano

Chief Michano is a long-time resident of Pic River, having completed both elementary and high school in the region. He earned a Fish and Wildlife college diploma at Sir Sanford Fleming and has since worked in the Dept. of Lands and Forests, Ontario Paper, Marathon Paper, and Kimberly Clark in Terrace Bay.

His latest position was at Parks Canada, where he served as a Park Warden, Tug Operator, and Maintenance Manager for over 35 years. These positions required that he managed budgets of up to $800,000 and supervised 15 people, which gave him a broad range of experience.

Duncan has a long political history with the band, having served as Band Councillor and occasionally Deputy Chief for over 24 years. In his spare time he enjoys playing his guitar, canoeing, riding his motorbike, and spending time with his grandchildren.
